Alex Carpani's musical production can be divided in two periods: before 2000 and after
2000. The first one is a period of maturation and experimentation
in which he explored several styles and genres, using a non professional
set-up. The second period is the more recent one that has been strongly
influenced by the professional set-up he's been using from 2000. The
hard-disk recording and the audio editing gave him a wide range of
opportunities, starting from the possibility to record, mix and master his music.
The repertory covers several genres: electronic music, symphonic music,
progressive rock, new age, music & poetry, music for theatre shows,
electro-jazz, jazz-rock, piano music, music for short films and multimedia performances.

produzione musicale di Alex Carpani può essere suddivisa in due
periodi: 1990-1999 e dal 2000 ad oggi. Il primo è il periodo della
maturazione e della sperimentazione nel quale ha esplorato vari stili e
generi, usando strumentazioni semi-professionali. Il secondo periodo,
più recente, è stato molto influenzato dalla
strumentazione professionale adottata dal 2000. L'hard disk recording e
l'audio editing gli hanno dato un ampio spettro di opportunità,
a cominciare dalla possibilità di registrare, mixare e
masterizzare autonomamente la propria musica.
Il
repertorio, in generale, copre vari generi: la musica elettronica, la
musica sinfonica, il rock progressivo, la new age, la musica unita alla
poesia, la musica per il teatro, l'electro-jazz, la musica per
pianoforte, la musica per cortometraggi e per spettacoli multimediali.

"THE SANCTUARY" is a prog rock album dedicated to an imaginary sanctuary
that seems abandoned, but still has some "presences": some braziers that are still burning
and some ancient memories and stories that are still living;
stories of knights, clergymen, elves, templars and pagan masses.

"4 SUITES" is an album with 4 suites dedicated to some myths and
legend of the ancient times. Musically speaking, it's a mix of
symphonic-orchestral music and
progressive rock, with keyboards virtuous parts in evidence. There are
spared lyrics written by Alex Carpani and narrating about the myths
that inspired the music. The narrator's voice is by Saverio Mazzoni, an Italian actor and speaker.
The lead & back vocals are by Alex Carpani.

"ALIEN IN MIND" is a concept instrumental album mixing electronic

voices. A voyage through a mind possessed by an alien entity, or simply
a normal mind possessed by the human desire or knowledge…
"A.I.M." describes musically some shreds of confused thoughts, lived
life and impressed images through the world of sounds.

"CUL DE SAC" is a concept instrumental album mixing electronic music,

It's an imaginary journey of a soul in a "no ways out contest". "C.D.S."
is the final chapter of a 3 CDs-trilogy dedicated to human mind and its
possible deformations, alienations, creations started with "Don't Turn
Back" and continued with "Alien In Mind".

"LA CRUNA DELL'AGO" is the first album of the trilogy dedicated to the
poems of Edoardo Sanguineti, one of the greatest Italian living poets.
The music is conceived starting from the author’s voice reading
his poems and becomes a kind of “soundtrack”, where music
and words merge together. Musically speaking, this album is mainly
acoustic, with simple and clear rhytmic lines and an harmonic texture
made of piano melodies, organ, acoustic guitar and strings
accompaniment.

il primo album dedicato alle poesie di Edoardo Sanguineti, uno dei
massimi poeti italiani viventi. La musica è stata concepita
partendo dalla voce dell'autore che legge le proprie poesie e diventa,
così, una sorta diu "colonna sonora" dove musica e parole si

"CERCO UN PAESE INNOCENTE" is a multimedia show inspired by
some criminal facts committed in Bologna by a cruel gang between 1988
and 1994. This show has been conceived to narrate and to remember such
bad story. The original music is by Alex Carpani and has been selected
from his existing repertory.

è uno spettacolo multimediale ispirato dai fatti criminali
compiuti dalla banda della "Uno bianca" tra il 1988 e il 1994 in
Emilia-Romagna. La performance è stata concepita per raccontare
e ricordare questa dolorosa vicenda. La musica originale è di

“IL RITORNO” is based on a novel by Filippo Finardi about the liberation of Bologna at the end of WW2. It's
a multimedia performance with 5 actors, the
music performed live and the videos projected behind the artists on
scene. The music has a leading role in the performance, covering
about 40 minutes of the show, which is 60 minutes long. Musically
speaking, it's a mix of symphonic and electronic music.
“IL RITORNO”
è basato su un racconto di Filippo Finardi sulla Liberazione di
Bologna alla fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. E' una performance
multimediale con 5 attori in scena, la musica eseguita dal vivo e le
videoproiezioni alle spalle degli artisti. La musica ha un ruolo
dominante nello spettacolo, coprendo circa 40 minuti dei 60 della
rappresentazione. Musicalmente parlando, si tratta di un lavoro a
metà strada tra la musica sinfonica e la musica elettronica.

"PASSAGGI" is the original soundtrack of a short film, a thriller, that
has been realized by the students of a college in Bologna, under the
supervision of some professional technicians of the video production
field.

“SOL ET LUNA” is a collection of music composed in a period
of 15 years. It is divided in 3 parts: Part I is dedicated to the
“solar side” of my music soul that inspired the production
of the earlier period, while Part II is dedicated to the “lunar
side” of my music that inspired the production of the recent
period. Finally, Part III is dedicated to the union between
classical music and rock. The albums contains 13 original tracks - most of them have been re-arranged for the occasion - plus 2
covers (“Romeo & Juliet” by S. Prokofiev and "Fanfare
For The Common Man" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer).
“SOL ET LUNA”
è una raccolta di musica composta nell'arco di 15 anni. E'
divisa in 3 parti: la Parte I è dedicata all' "anima solare"
della musica di Alex Carpani che caratterizza la produzione del primo
periodo, mentre la Parte II è dedicata all' "anima lunare" che
ha ispirato la produzione più recente. Infine, la Parte III
è dedicata all'unione tra musica classica e rock. L'album
contiene 13 brani originali - la maggior parte dei quali è stata
riarrangiata per l'occasione - più due brani editi ("Romeo &
